Jeon Ju Korean Restaurant LLC
Jeon Ju Korean Restaurant is pleased to announce a new addition to the Oklahoma City fine arts scene. In August 2011, New York based artist Markus Linnenbrink will create a site-specific wall painting for permanent display in the restaurant dining area. This will accompany the restaurant’s remodel into a more sleek and modern space.
For this installation, Linnenbrink will bring his signature bands of undulating color and spontaneous drips to the walls of Jeon Ju Restaurant. This painting will make its viewer reminisce about the robust sunsets in Oklahoma as they enjoy the hearty flavors and aromas of South Korea. Full Press Release Here
FLOOR-WALL-CEILING PAINTING for newly constructed JVA/Prison, Duesseldorf Rath, Germany.
For this public commission Markus Linnenbrink created a floor to ceiling painting covering the visitors tunnel of the new Justiz Vollzugs Anstalt (Prison) in Duesseldorf Rath, Germany. Being a model prison in europe this institution is build and set up to deal with security and humanity issues in the best possible way.
Visitor access (for family, lawyers, police...) has to be under ground by law in newly constructed prisons in Germany. This tunnel covers the 40 m (about 132 feet) between the security check in the front building and the visitors area in one of the inner prison buildings. Concept for the installation was to create a 3 dimensional painting that follows and surrounds the visitor during the walk through the tunnel. Two sets of diagonal stripes that both grow wider while covering the distance build two different perspectives. One moving inside, the other one taking the visitors back to the exit/entry area. Doing this the single stripes move from floor to wall to ceiling, change their colors over the distance and fold around corners.

New Gentlemans
Born in Germany, in 1961, Markus Linnenbrink subsequently graduated from Berlin‘s Academy of Fine Arts in 1988. He has since exhibited his work extensively at galleries and museums all around the world. Currently based in the USA, Linnenbrink works from a studio in Brooklyn and effortlessly moves between three dimensional, site-specific and paintingbased practices and projects. He notably utilises resin as a core material - in tandem with his characteristic oozing and streaked hues of vivid colour, or similarly-manipulated shades of sober greys and blacks. Eagerly sought-after, examples of Linnenbrink‘s work are now housed in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions, including San Francisco‘s Museum of Modern Art, the Herzliya Museum of Art, in Israel, Ucla Hammer, in L.A and Kassel‘s Museum Neue Galerie.
